\nUsing 3D scanning and VR, FVB is taking plant design to a new level. Customers can see their project in a highly lifelike visual presentation. The Link\u00f6ping office is upgrading its services within 3D scanning and also offers VR to customers.\r\n<\/b>\n<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cWe have a new 3D scanner at our office in Link\u00f6ping with higher precision and better quality than before, making the result even more lifelike. 3D scans can be presented in CAD models, various visualisation programs and VR. It’s almost like being in the real thing,\u201d enthuses David Lind\u00e9n Elofsson at FVB.\r\n\r\nFVB often works with constructions in existing plants. A common problem is that the customer does not have complete documentation for what the plant looks like.\u00a0\r\n\r\n\u201cOur own scanning equipment means we can measure up a heating or industrial plant in a full working day. It gives measurements of the actual environment down to the nearest millimetre. Design work in a scanned environment also means that we can identify collisions with existing objects at an early stage and create a structural framework with a high degree of precision,\u201d says Lind\u00e9n Elofsson.\r\n\r\nFVB can also link scanned material with VR using its own system. The resulting models are programmed into a VR headset which the customer can use to walk around the computer-generated, 3D environment that will be a true copy of the final result.\u00a0\u00a0\r\n\r\n\u201cVR is unbeatable, as the customer is able to get inside the model \u2013 it’s amazing! We can show them how a renovation or new installation will look in the customer\u2019s own facilities. Thanks to the new 3D equipment, quality is also given a considerable boost by using VR with the material from our new scanner,\u201d concludes Lind\u00e9n Elofsson enthusiastically.\u00a0\r\n\r\nOther benefits of 3D scanning include fewer site visits, cutting risk and therefore the cost of revisions and additions.\r\n\r\nThe new 3D scanner is located at FVB’s Link\u00f6ping office. Working with 3D-scanned environments makes more efficient and better design possible for all engineering disciplines. And the same applies whether working on mechanical installations, pipe systems or building constructions (as was the case with Nodra, with the additional steel structure and traverse crane).
